Hemp Gummies vs. CBD Gummies: Differences and Best Products

Published

on

Hemp, CBD, cannabis – all the same, right? Not so fast.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not regulate cannabidiol (CBD) products like drugs and dietary supplements, so some companies may try to use the terms “hemp” and “CBD” interchangeably. But there are some key differences between the two.

Learn how hemp gums and CBD gums differ, and how to find out if a product contains what it says it is.

Let’s start by examining the difference between hemp and what is commonly referred to as “marijuana” or “weed”.

The term “marijuana” has had a controversial past, and lately people in the industry have started using “cannabis” instead.

Hemp and “marijuana” are the same types of cannabis plants. There is no scientific difference between them.

But there is a legal difference between the two: “Marijuana” has higher levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) (greater than 0.3 percent), while hemp has lower levels of THC (0.3 percent or less). Both plants contain CBD and other cannabinoids.

In terms of quality, it makes no difference whether a company gets its CBD from hemp or “marijuana”.

CBD oil and hemp oil differ greatly in their composition.

Unlike CBD oil, which is made from all parts of the cannabis plant, hemp oil or hemp seed oil only comes from the seeds of the plant. Hemp seeds do not contain any CBD. This means that CBD gums are legal if they contain CBD oil and not hemp seed oil.

It seems like a straightforward distinction, but some companies mistakenly market hemp gums as CBD gums. If you don’t look closely at the ingredients, it’s easy to fall for the fraudulent claim.

A red flag? Price. If the price seems too good to be true, it probably is.

While research on CBD is still in its infancy, studies suggest that it can help with insomnia and anxiety.

Epidiolex, the first FDA-approved drug containing CBD, can treat rare forms of epilepsy. Some people also use CBD to help with chronic pain, nausea, and depression.

Hemp gums do not have the same effects as CBD gums because they contain neither CBD nor THC.

However, hemp seed oil can have other benefits, for example for skin conditions like acne or psoriasis, as it has anti-inflammatory effects. It’s pretty nutritious too. However, don’t expect it to calm anxious thoughts or help you fall asleep.

You can buy both products online or in some stores.

It is important to note, however, that any supposed CBD gums that you see for sale on Amazon are most likely just hemp gums. You can’t buy CBD gums from the online retail giant as Amazon bans CBD sales.

Are These Hemp Gums You See On Amazon A Good Buy? Probably not. Many hemp gums are mistakenly marketed to contain CBD or to provide benefits that only CBD can provide.

If you only want to consume hemp and no CBD, then you better look for hemp seed oil than hemp gums. There are a number of high quality hemp seed oils that can be easily purchased online or in stores.

If you want to buy CBD gummies, buy direct from a CBD company.

Since CBD products are not subject to strict FDA regulations in terms of quality and purity, we have taken special care when selecting CBD gums. We have used criteria that we believe are good indicators of safety, quality and transparency.

Each CBD gum featured in this article:

  • is manufactured by a company that can demonstrate third party testing by an ISO 17025 compliant laboratory
  • is made from hemp grown in the USA
  • According to the certificate of analysis (COA), it does not contain more than 0.3 percent THC
  • passes tests for pesticides, heavy metals and molds according to the COA

As part of our selection process, we also took into account:

  • the company’s certifications and manufacturing processes
  • Product strength
  • Total ingredients
  • Indicators of user trust and brand reputation, such as:
    • Customer ratings
    • whether the company has been subjected to an FDA warning letter
    • whether the company makes unsupported health claims

When selecting hemp seed oils, we looked for products with:

  • many positive reviews
  • clear marketing that doesn’t try to fool buyers that they are buying something that contains CBD

Zaural sells both CBD and hemp seed products. Each type of product is sold through different sections on their website and is clearly labeled. For example, the product label for this oil clearly says “no added CBD”.

Made from Canadian and US grown hemp, this oil is vegan and can be consumed or applied topically. It comes in unflavoured or peppermints varieties.

Nutiva hemp seed oil

Nutiva’s unflavored, cold-pressed hemp seed oil is easy to find in stores or online. It can be used topically or added to foods or beverages. If you consume it, Nutiva recommends using it raw or slightly heated.

The oil is USDA organic certified, GMO-free, fair trade certified and vegan.

When buying a CBD or hemp seed product, here are some things to look out for:

CBD source

When buying a CBD product, consider what type of CBD it contains. There are three types:

  • CBD isolate
  • The whole spectrum
  • broad spectrum

Isolate is pure CBD and does not contain any other cannabinoids from the plant. If you want to avoid THC altogether, an isolate is likely your best option. However, there are a few things to keep in mind.

First, there is always the possibility that any CBD product may contain traces of THC. This can be especially important if you are undergoing a drug test.

Second, the extraction process for CBD isolate is quite laborious compared to full and broad spectrum CBD and can remove beneficial compounds like terpenes. That means CBD isolate may not have the same health benefits as other types of CBD.

Broad-spectrum CBD usually does not contain THC, but full-spectrum products do. The entourage effect suggests that CBD and THC, when taken together, have more far-reaching effects than alone.

Hemp seed oil does not contain any CBD. Avoid products that claim to contain CBD but only have hemp seed oil on the label. If you see a CBD product that doesn’t tell you the exact form of the CBD it contains, it’s a red flag.

ingredients

Whether you are buying hemp oil or CBD gums, it is important to check the ingredients list. Hemp seed oil should generally only contain a single ingredient, although flavorings are sometimes added.

Some CBD gums contain additional ingredients, such as lemon balm or melatonin, to enhance the effect of the product or to make the taste more palatable.

If you are vegan or want to avoid artificial ingredients, make sure the ingredient list suits your needs.

Third party testing

Hemp seed oil isn’t necessarily third party testing, but this extra step doesn’t hurt.

However, it is imperative that CBD products be shipped with a COA from a reputable, independent third-party laboratory. Check the COA to make sure it includes:

  • The date. Ideally, the COA should not be older than a year.
  • Power. The amount of CBD stated on the COA should match the amount stated on the product packaging. A certain amount of deviation is normal, but should not differ by more than 10 to 20 percent.
  • Pollutant check. Make sure the product passes at least tests for heavy metals, pesticides, and molds.

CBD does not produce the same “high” as THC, but it can have minor side effects in some people. Some side effects include:

  • diarrhea
  • fatigue
  • Weight loss or gain
  • Appetite changes

In general, however, CBD is considered safe.

Regardless of whether you plan to take CBD or hemp, speak to a doctor or cannabis medic beforehand. CBD, hemp, and some supplements can interact with certain drugs.

Doing your homework is the best way to avoid being exploited when purchasing CBD products.

Don’t be fooled by exaggerated marketing claims and slurred descriptions. CBD gums are not the same as hemp gums.

CBD gums are more expensive and can help with a number of conditions. Hemp gums, while nutritious, do not have the same effects as CBD gums. They’re also generally less expensive, and a high-quality version can be difficult to find. If you are interested in the benefits of hemp, your best bet is to use hemp seed oil instead of hemp gums.

Regardless of whether you choose to take CBD or hemp, speak to a doctor before including it in your daily routine.

Is CBD Legal? Hemp-derived CBD products (containing less than 0.3 percent THC) are legal at the federal level, but are still illegal under some state laws. CBD products derived from marijuana are illegal at the federal level, but legal under some state laws. Find out about the laws of your state and wherever you travel. Keep in mind that nonprescription CBD products are not FDA approved and may be inaccurately labeled.

The Cannabis Renaissance

Published

on

His stigma seems to be fading fast on Indian soil. From a drug provocateur to an alternative cure for creaky joints, insomnia, anxiety and other urban health disorders, cannabis has finally arrived in a sophisticated avatar packaged in essential oils. It has become a #shelfiegoal2022 to have a healing potion powered by CBD oil to get rid of your health problems. Hemp products have clearly overcome the hump of misgivings and misunderstandings on the alternative medicine bandwagon. The cannabis economy is growing.

The medicinal properties of the plant find specific mention in ancient Vedic literature. The Atharva-Veda describes cannabis as a remedy for many diseases. The Sushruta Samhita, dated between the 3rd and 8th centuries BC. BC, advocated the use of cannabis for phlegm and diarrhea. Yet with our shared perception of ganja on the ghats, clay chillums being passed around in puffs of smoke, and hashish conquering the senses, the country has quietly continued, often with, the “psychoactive” cultivation of hemp, a cousin of marijuana religious and medical accents.

Acceptance of the versatile hemp is finally gaining well-deserved ground as cannabis-powered wellness products are sold online and become best-sellers in the industry. “When we started, we had to explain why wearing a hemp shirt doesn’t get you high. Today, people of all generations buy our products and choose to heal themselves holistically through a natural source,” says Yash Kotak, co-founder of Mumbai-based BOHECO Bombay Hemp Company.

Awshad Full Spectrum Vijaya Oil Tulsi

Cannabis offers therapeutic healing and nutrition, and with over 25,000 ways to use this one plant, it’s a solution provided by the most sustainable and eco-friendly resource. “This is definitely just the beginning. We still have many miles to unlock the potential, and with the right kind of R&D practices, the world is at our feet,” says Chirag Tekchandaney, co-founder of BOHECO, adding: “In the last two years, the Income from operations increased by over 25 percent. Before that, we were operating at a three-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 93 percent. The Hemp Fiber and Hemp Seed segments are expected to register substantial CAGRs of 27 percent and 25 percent, respectively, during the forecast period.

The cumulative share of these two segments was 47.6 percent in 2019 and is expected to reach 50.1 percent by 2027. We also export our products to over 10 countries, but most of our D2C audience is from India. Our repeat purchase is highest in this category, with over 43 percent of our target audience coming back to buy more. That says a lot.” This sudden shift has been evident since the lockdowns, leading to more startups in this space. Cannabis has now gained more acceptance, reaching an overtone of “herbal” overtones compared to the source of high it was once labeled as.

There was a time when the arrival at home of a CBD oil-infused supplement freaked out our loved ones. They thought we were on drugs. Now the same people are using it for its many therapeutic purposes. There has been an overall softening of attitude. Nowadays, more players encounter Boomtown. “The growth rate of this industry is directly related to the awareness of the legality, availability and benefits of this plant,” says Richa Jaggi, co-founder of Awshad, which started last year. “I believe this softening of attitudes can be directly linked to the growing popularity of cannabis around the world. Countries like the US and Canada started the cannabis destigmatization movement and funded various research to learn more about it.

They uncovered two things: the plant has various medicinal properties, and its properties were misrepresented,” she adds. Obviously learning is spreading. Loveena Sirohi, Co-Founder and Director of India Hemp Organics based in Bengaluru says: “At IHO, our growth rate has been 200 percent year over year. We have seen a diverse age range of people incorporating hemp and cannabis products into their lifestyle. Today our oldest patient is 94 years old and consumes the Sleep Well CannaBliss oil daily for better sleep.” She adds: “With the outbreak of Covid-19, cannabis-based medicinal oils helped fight a variety of diseases, including Depression and anxiety that increased during lockdown.”

The format and application of the products advertise to a cross-section of the population through oils, balms and creams. “They’re used to treat pain, inflammation, arthritis, pimples, eczema, itchy skin, and more,” says Jaggi, adding, “Cannabis edibles like tinctures and gummies are more geared towards men and women over the age of 18 who are.” suffering from insomnia, stress, anxiety, chronic pain, bowel problems, etc. People suffering from epilepsy or undergoing chemotherapy swear by this product.” alive and well the natural way the right way. But a word of caution: Cannabis leaf falls under a Schedule E-1 drug under the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules of 1945, and any medication containing a Schedule E-1 substance must be taken under medical supervision.

THE HOLY TRUTH

✥ Look for the licensed stamp of the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India on the products
✥ Cannabis-infused medicines are safe to use and non-addictive, especially when taken under medical supervision
✥ The expensive labels are due to the difficult supply chain as hemp is mainly grown in Uttarakhand in the foothills of the Himalayas

“As a proud mommy of dogs, my pets are an extension of my family and their health and well-being are of the utmost importance,” said Ashley Ferguson, President of RESET. “I wanted to use CBD pet treats to support my elderly Chihuahua’s quality of life and calm my anxious Doberman puppy at home. Before introducing RESET, I tested treats and oils from major brands on the market at a leading analysis lab. I was beyond shocked and disappointed to find alarming levels of heavy metals like lead, mercury and even arsenic, residual solvents and microbiological contaminants like E. coli and salmonella in almost every product. that I was recommended to dose my Chihuahua the same amount as my Doberman!

We immediately felt compelled to bring to market a pet product with human ingredients protected by our world-class testing and saw an opportunity to apply RESET’s delivery system in partnership with Powered by Santé® Deployment Technology. Technology differentiates RESET Pet by providing faster, better absorption for more immediate results and safer dosing in accordance with a pet’s weight.
